Son of Adam and Jennifer Bauer and brother to Ashlyn Bauer and Susan Dietrich, Austin Bauer is part of CCHS’ graduating class. He is involved in Cross Country, Choir, Drama, and Speech, while also being employed at Hy-Vee. His favorite class is any that has to do with history and he likes to sing, act, and hang out with friends in his spare time. Austin’s inspiration for all that he does is Joseph Earney, a graduate of CCHS. Austin’s favorite quote is, “Answer. That you are here - that life exists, and identity; that the powerful play goes on and you may contribute a verse. That the powerful play goes on and you may contribute a verse. What will your verse be?” by Robin Williams.
Austin’s plans after high school are to get his general education requirements (gen eds) done and get a communications degree. Then he intends on going to New York for schooling in performing arts. When asked where he sees himself in five years, Austin says in acting school doing what he loves. His favorite high school memory is of when he, Nolan Crawford, Justin Joerger, and Michael McKenzie performed their improv group at All-State speech. Austin says he will miss seeing his friends everyday. His advice to underclassman is, “These years will go by unbelievably fast. Get involved. Try anything and everything at least once. It’s better to say ‘remember when’ than ‘what if.’ Cherish these years and make them count. You only get one go around.”
