Serena Schmidt
Eighteen-year-old Maddy Schmidt is the daughter of Ann and Mike Bogue and the older sister to Darrell Schmidt and Cameron Smith. She is involved in Choir, which is also her favorite class, and works at Casey’s. Maddy enjoys singing, reading, being LOUD, and hanging out with friends. When asked who her role model is, Maddy says her mother, because of the battles that she has gone through while still keeping her head high. Maddy’s favorite quote is, “Suffering and joy teach us, if we allow them, how to make the leap of empathy, which transports us into the soul and heart of another person. In those transparent moments we know other people’s joys and sorrows, and we care about their concerns as if they were our own” by Fritz Williams.
Maddy’s plans after high school are to attend NIACC and then transfer to a community college in Nashville with hopes of, after five years, being a music teacher. Maddy could not choose just one favorite high school memory, but said she would miss seeing her friends 24/7. Maddy’s advice to underclassman is, “Don’t be afraid to stand out and be yourself!”
